VACCEB A BEACON OF HOPE FOR ALL!

LATEST UPDATES:

On Saturday, 2/6/21, a homeless encampment caught the Vietnamese American Community Center (VACCEB) on fire resulting in a devastating loss.  VACCEB has provided full wrap around services to the County and City of Oakland for 20+ years; especially refugees, immigrants and low income families. We provide 30,000 meals/mo. to 2,500 clients regularly and 350,000+ service units annually.  Go to our website to see the breathe of the services provided.   www.VACCEB.net

Since the fire, our spirits have been lifted by the outpouring of support by our friends and colleagues.  Some old friends and some newly acquired.

Now that we have had time to digest the scope of work ahead post-fire, we want to share with you all our recovery plans.

We anticipate 3 phases to recovery; namely,

1) immediate emergency phase for  re-positioning of all programming and temporary storage and work space.

2) major clean up, environmental and safety testing, containment, micro cleaning, savage operation and partial reoccupation of section of building not burnt.

3) reconstruction of the portion of building destroyed by fire (exterior and interior) to regain 100% use of building.

Our current fundraising will be for Phase 1 and 2.  Phase 3 is by far the most costly and lengthy as it involves construction.  We have yet to figure out construction estimates, but hope to have that information soon so we can start fundraising for this portion.

We are grateful for the donations already received to get us through Phase 1 and 2.  Many of our programs are continuing (especially our food security program) and we are figuring out the rest bit by bit.

We have picked up thousands of fellow travelers on road to recovery and this has lightened our load and boosted our confidence for a full recovery.  We are grateful to each of you as we solve the logistical and physical structure issues.

We are extremely humbled by your generosity and support!

VACCEB is smiling! All donations, small or large have not gone unnoticed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
