Valencia - Help for Tina and Rebeca
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Andrea Pastor Torres. I live in England, and I am from Valencia.
The situation created by the rainfall on October 29th in the region of Valencia is devastating. It affected not just one or two villages, but around 80 km from inland, where the storm started, to the sea, where the streams of water found their way.
My family and friends in Valencia have organized themselves to clean, distribute basic food, and donate basic household items to people we know: Tina who lives in Paiporta and Rebeca who is from Catarroja. They lost everything in their houses – everything.
As of today, 4th November 2024, their houses are currently uninhabitable. We hope we can raise some money to help them buy the basics once their houses are clean and secure - some parts of Tina's house load bearing wall have been braced.
We created a list of the items they will need, which will be purchased with the money we collect:
- mattress
- bed frame
- pillow
- sheet
- duvet & blanket
- dishes & cutlery
- microwave
- washing machine
- fridge
- vacuum
- towels
- clothes
- table and chairs
About Tina: For many years, Tina owned the restaurant El Carranc, where she cooked the best paellas. She now works as a cleaner in tram and metro stations. She has a 25-year-old daughter who is a student. On that fateful evening, they were both at home, in Paiporta. Over the hours, the water level rose, destroying the front door of their house and reaching almost 2 meters inside their one-floor old town house. They were rescued at the last moment by their neighbour who opened a hole in the wall with a hammer. Tina was interviewed, see here the post.
About Rebeca: she worked in a factory that makes parts for Ford, but she is on leave since she passed a civil service exam and is now doing an internship. She lives in a ground floor house that was flooded, in Catarroja. She managed to find shelter in her neighbour's, from where she filmed this video. Her house is in a deplorable state. She filmed this video on Sunday 3rd Nov.
Thank you for your help and support.
We will send updates with their situations.
