Valeria's Apartment Fire Fund

Hello. My name is Valeria A. and I welcomed my 23rd birthday with an apartment fire and I, pretty much, lost everything.

I am a senior at UT San Antonio and I am a history major. I also work at a children’s museum, which I enjoy very much.

On Saturday, July 29, 2023, I was celebrating my 23 birthday with my family. As I returned back home to San Antonio, I got a call from my neighbor that there had been a fire in our apartment complex. Unfortunately, the apartments next to mine had caught on fire. The firemen were able to put out the fire but the damage to my apartment was done. Everything was damaged due to fire, smoke, foam, and water. Here are some pics of what is left of my apartment.

The firemen broke into my place and, luckily, were able to save my kitty Mushu. We took him to the vet and they had to put him on a ventilator because he was affected by smoke inhalation. Every time they took him off the ventilator, he would start coughing and spitting blood. After a day at the vet, on the ventilator, he got better. I am so glad that he survived the fire. But the vet bills are sky-high.

I am starting this page to help me get back on my feet after such a life-changing event. I am starting out in life and it has been pretty traumatic to lose everything in a blink of an eye.

Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. I pretty much lost everything but the only thing I didn’t lose was hope.
