Valerie and John Sorrell Family

Hi! I am Edie Knight and I am fundraising for the Sorrell Family. Valerie, John's wife and mother of Colt and Declan, was diagnosed with breast cancer in late August. She began chemotherapy in October and will continue treatments until February. In late February,

she will have surgery to remove the tumors that remain and possibly lymph nodes after chemotherapy. After a month of rest following surgery, she will begin six months of additional chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy through September 2023.

Due to the chemotherapy, Valerie began losing her hair in late October. She shaved her head on November 1st and will not begin regrowing her hair until all of her chemotherapy treatments have ended. Her wig, to help with her self-esteem and confidence, was $1700. The medical expenses will accumulate to be over $20,000 by February.

John is the Next Gen Pastor at Life Austin and has been instrumental in bringing new curriculum to the children's ministry that teaches the bible, to children ages 1- 5th grade.

Before moving to this new position, John and Valerie would bring the word of God to the children together. Valerie would be the vivacious and energetic worship leader with all the dance moves that got the little ones out of their seats and singing loud! And John was the Pastor with the message.
