I am writing to you today to let you know about our loss of Valeria Garcia on February 26, 2024. She fought hard for her health at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center; where she was well taken care of.
Valeria Garcia clans were Yucca Fruit (Hashk’ąą hadzohi), born for Bitterwater (Tódích’íi’nii), maternal clan Many Goats (Tł’ízíłaní) and paternal clan Folding Arms People (Bit’ah’nii) made her a beautiful mother, a wife , a daughter, a sister, and granddaughter. She was the youngest daughter of Maybell and Edward Black. Born and raised in Halchita with her older siblings Karlena Smith, Dzani and Shank Black. Her late grandparents’ were Joe and Elsie Crank and Jessie and Mary H. Black. She had several nicknames families and friends had given her Val and Woola’chii (Red Ant).
Val leaves behind her sons’ Elias Yazzie, Anthony and Adam Garcia, and husband Ronnie Garcia. She had a beautiful spirit where she loved joking, laughed, smiled, communicated with about anything.
