Valerie Green Dance Entropy Fundraiser

I created this fundraiser to support Dance Entropy, Inc. to offset loss of income due to COVID-19. #SmallBusinessRelief Any donation will help make an impact!
How COVID-19 has affected Dance Entropy and our community:
The organization’s primary issue is the closure of our home studio, Green Space; cancellation of multiple performance events for the studio and company, including the cancellation of the annual fundraising Gala; canceled touring; teaching residencies; and all associated loss of income. The impact that the loss of these programs have on our audiences, students and community members is substantial.
How donations will be used: Donations will help cover funding gaps caused by the projected loss of income from studio rentals, ticket sales, performance income, teaching contracts and ongoing classes.

About Dance Entropy:
Valerie Green/Dance Entropy (VG/DE) is a professional not-for-profit modern dance company of nine dancers founded in 1998 by Valerie Green. VG/DE believes in humanizing movement, both in Green’s critically acclaimed choreographic work and the company’s mission to plant creative seeds in communities across the world. To date, Green has created 39 dances including 10 evening-length works, all of which incorporate forms of original production, musical composition, innovative set design or new media. Intersecting mortal and transcendent, sensual and sophisticated, visceral and self-aware, VG/DE invites the artist, the audience—the human—into a compelling, physical experience. Her choreography has been presented extensively throughout New York City and tours domestically & internationally, bringing performances to public spaces, dance venues, museums, & cultural centers. VG/DE combines performance and specialized outreach programs to inspire communities in cultural institutions throughout the world. As a professional nonprofit dance company, the communities we engage with have included at risk youth, adolescents, trauma survivors, the disabled, senior citizens and aspiring/professional dancers.
Green Space, a Long Island City-based studio established by Green in 2005, houses the company and serves artists who create & present work, holds classes for various ages, outreach programs, & multi-arts events.
The VG/DE Mission:
- Create a platform for multicultural understanding through dance
- Nurture connections between dance creation and education
- Build community among dance artists
- Foster physicality, creativity and empowerment in underserved communities
