We're a group of Val's friends who want to raise money to help her family. Anything you donate will be directly deposited into their bank account to help with final costs. Please dig deep into your pockets. Val has helped each and every one of us at some point, if not directly then through our communities.
Here's our version of Our Haitian Flower, Valerie Jean-Baptiste. Our guess is that it will sound familiar because Val was proudly and genuinely herself in every area of her life.
Over the years, our massage school group, "Rizzieri's Finest 24 Hands", has stayed in touch and met up at least once a year. Often, Val would shoot a quick note to us through our Messenger Group or just call to ask how we're doing. Her presence was always there. Val went to great lengths to get to school; she walked, took a bus, and a train every day and never missed. After school, she then headed off to work. When she put her mind to something she accomplished it with great success. Her desire to help others made her a force to be reckoned with, whether it was through massage or her newest endeavor as a doula. Her heart was huge. Perhaps it was she who made the Grinch's small heart grow three sizes in a day.
She always found a way to "make things happen" for her family, herself, her community and her clients. She was a fierce mama to Unique and William and devoted to her boo, Lamar.
Val experienced life with zest and vigor. She was so much fun to be around, any one of us would totally enjoy sitting through jury duty if we got to do it with Val. But don't go near her before noon, she was NOT a morning person. Val was mechanically inclined, a talented chef, beautiful in her pageant gowns with strong womanhood radiating from her extraordinary eyes. It came as no surprise to anyone who knew Val that she brought home the Miss Congeniality crown. What about her mischievous smile when she was up to something that maybe she shouldn't have been?
Val always had to have pictures of the people in her life and her experiences and we're so happy to have these memories. She was deeply grounded in her faith in God and roots in her heritage.
We love and miss you terribly, Our Haitian Flower!
If you find it in your heart and the spirit moves you, please consider supporting Val's family during this difficult time.
