Valerie's college fund
Hello,
As many of you know, my name is Valerie Herrera. I attended Akins high school for 4 years and finished 18th in my class of about 650 students with a 4.094 GPA. While attending Akins, I was an athlete (volleyball and cheerleading) and had the amazing chance to be a part of two wonderful certification internships; Certified Nursing Assistant & Emergency Medical Technician. I was part of school's HOSA chapter where I competed both years and placed 4th in my area for CNA, 1st in my area for EMT, 2nd in the state of TX for EMT and 7th place in EMT nationals. Besides all the bragging .. I need help.. My biggest dream is to become a nurse practitioner and specialize in pediatrics and I am an average 18 year old who wishes to continue their education after high school. I have chosen to continue my education at Concordia University Texas where I will be majoring in nursing. However, money is an issue.. After losing my mom in 2015 to cancer, my family and myself have struggled in many ways to get back on our feet. With a household of 5 and a single parent, there is no way for my dad to help much with funding my college. I myself will continue working however, I am a DACA student.. I therefore had to file TASFA rather than FASFA and the only money I was elligible for was the money the school could offer me and loans weren't part of what they could offer me. I am now asking for anyone's help. The total I owe for this semmester is about $6,000 which of I am only asking help with half.. I have taken it into my own hands to provide for at least $3,000 of it on my own however time is an issue. I need to have the full payment a week before school starts otherwise I will be dropped from my classes. If anyone is willing to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I am open for any suggestions on places to apply for aid as well as any tips on finding sponsors.
Thank you so much for your time,
Best of wishes for everyone.
