Hi, my name is Valerie. I'm a 21 year old Asian trans woman entering her senior year of undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. I'm studying psychology with a minor in sociology of health and medicine, and I plan on continuing my education to pursue a masters in counseling psychology or social work. My career goal is to help other queer people in a healthcare setting.
The current climate towards transgender people in the United States is worrying, to put it mildly. With various civil rights being stripped and politicians and others calling for violence against us, I am especially concerned for my safety. I'm hoping to update my passport if things come to the worst possible outcome. Additionally, I experience debilitating gender dysphoria and I hope to undergo laser hair removal on my face and eventually gender confirmation surgery. All of these things will drastically improve my safety. This Pride Month, please consider directly helping an Asian trans woman. Thank you.
