HELP PROVIDE BOOKS TO FAMILIES IN NEED!
With schools and libraries closed, we're rallying to put books into the hands of young Pioneer Valley readers in need during the stay-at-home advisory. We strongly believe that in times of hardship, books are an important resource that help lift up, educate, and inspire children.
— WHAT WE'RE DOING —
Valley Book Rally has partnered with the teams that coordinate the Community Food Distribution Project, including Grow Food Northampton, the Northampton Survival Center, and Community Action Pioneer Valley to distribute books, and we need your help!
More than 500 families from 18+ towns who sign up to participate in the Community Food Distribution Project currently receive free weekly bags of shelf-stable pantry items and produce, purchased mostly from local farms. Funds raised via the Valley Book Rally campaign will be used to buy books for every school-aged child whose family participates in the Community Food Distribution Project, with the hopes of partnering with more organizations and housing communities in the future.
Titles will include those by local authors and illustrators, in addition to those published by Interlink Publishing and hand-picked by High Five Books. We are working directly with resident services coordinators at the various housing sites across the Pioneer Valley to match participating children’s ages with high-interest books that offer entertainment, education, and parental relief during this crisis.
— WHO WE ARE —
• High Five Books, a new Florence-based independent bookstore, and ...
• Interlink Publishing, a 33-year-old indie publishing company, and ...
• YOU, a generous community member who knows that now, more than ever, kids deserve to escape into books!
— HOW YOU CAN HELP —
Starting on Giving Tuesday (May 5, 2020) through May 19 [UPDATED! May 25!] , please donate what you can! (We are unable to accept physical book donations at this time.)
And please do SHARE this campaign far and wide!
From all of us, thank you so much for your support and kindness!
