VHS Ski Club: Diversifying the Slopes

Who We Are:

The VHS Ski Club was created by its students to present the opportunity to learn to ski/board to any Valley High School student regardless of their financial situation.

How We Got Started:

Two passionate, remarkable seniors asked us to sponsor a ski club, and their earnestness in wanting to pay forward their love of being in the fresh mountain air to their Viking family inspired us to agree.

Our Mission:

A paramount component of the mission to which our students committed is to teach every member how to properly and safely ski/board before we venture to Seven Springs for our big trip. We meet at Boyce Park and get to work instructing where the camaraderie, positivity, determination, and joy that flows between our students is stunning to behold.

The teamwork begins at school organizing practice dates, helping gather warm clothes, and assisting any of our members financially struggling to cover their lift ticket and equipment rental.

Our Humble and Sincere Request:

We are in search of some kindness to help us diversify the slopes with the beautiful eclectic mosaic of our Valley High School Ski Club members. The financial demands of skiing are profound – our efforts are focused on easing the financial burden for our students with the sole purpose to not have to turn anyone away.

The complete cost for one member to attend one practice session at Boyce Park plus the trip to Seven Springs totals $205. Unbelievably, this does not include transportation, food, and proper clothing. After having the opportunity to learn the financial restrictions of our members, we are working to alleviate some of the overhead cost to make this life-changing experience a reality.

We will be updating our account as we want you to see our absolutely remarkable students lifting each other up on the slopes – we promise you they are worth the extension of your kindness.
