VÂN SCOTT - Songs I Never Wrote

Hey friends!

The new Vân Scott album is underway, and I'd love to have your support to make it happen. I've never gotten so personal in my music, hence the working title, Songs I Never Wrote. It is a retrospective of my own love life that covers the gamut of emotions from the honeymoon phase and finding your best friend, to the break-up you never quite got over and learning to embrace singleness.

WHAT'S THIS FOR?

To catch you up, I've spent the last year in New York City earning my Master's in Songwriting & Production at BerkleeNYC, a brand new offshoot of Berklee School of Music in Boston. I left LA in August 2021 and have been hard at work ever since, writing the next chapter in the Vân Scott saga. In that time, I've essentially written and produced what will be my sophomore album, and so now I'm looking to release and market those songs AND (drumroll please...) do my first ever mini-tour this Fall!

A few obstacles are making these new goals more complicated than I've experienced in the past... First and foremost, being a full-time student for the past eleven months forced me to rely on my savings to get through school and afford NYC living. As grateful as I am for the experience, I was unable to balance a job with school and, consequently, have all but exhausted my disposable income to invest heavily in the project. Thus, I'm in real need of a jumpstart to help keep everything moving forward musically.

In summary, these funds will help cover the estimated costs for:

This initial goal of $16,000 is a solid starting point. However, hitting my fundraising stretch goal of $25,000 would truly help bring this music where it needs to go, complete with new VS merch to show it off!

FIRST SINGLE OUT SEPTEMBER!

I firmly believe this next batch of songs will create fresh opportunities for me as an artist and songwriter. I've been playing sneak previews of the new material at my recent shows, and the response has been incredible! The new album will be full-length (at least 10 songs) and will be released gradually over the coming year, beginning with the first single, "Impress You," due in September!

TOURING

I'm currently coordinating with the fantastic folks at Sofar Sounds to lock in dates and venues for my Fall 2022, which will be regionally focused in the Northeast, from Boston to D.C. The plan is to build upon a more localized fanbase with the goals of opening for more significant acts and playing festivals by this time next year!

Lastly, you may wonder why I opted out of doing another Kickstarter versus this GoFundMe. My primary reason is to avoid the 5% cut that Kickstarter takes from its projects. Those percentages really add up after all of the processing fees. I'm also fully aware that the drawback here is that there are no promised rewards tiers for those that choose to give... Rest assured that I will find a comparable and proper way to show my appreciation for all those who choose to contribute, particularly those who desire the new line of Vân swag, i.e., CDs, T-shirts, and other merch items!
