Monday morning, December 5th, our Little Veronica complained of what looked to be normal flu-like symptoms, but like any normal parent with a child around her age, the symptoms were minor and average. So we treated her with the normal medications that any parent would and moved on. A few hours had passed, and her symptoms worsened substantially. This was when we realized that this wasn't an ordinary flu or cold, which told us to take her in. We brought her into urgent care, and this was when things got a lot worse. She had a cardiac arrest that lasted for what felt like hours. They were, thankfully, able to resuscitate her and stabilize her.

For the next several hours, she had two more cardiac arrests, and the staff recommended that she be transferred to Boston Children's Hospital. After preparing her for a transfer, she was transported by helicopter to ICU, where she was later diagnosed with severe influenza that attacked her heart. The morning of December 7, doctors did confirm that she doesn’t have any brain activity and is likely to not recover. Our entire family has been completely devastated by this news, and we are all trying to process this tragedy.

We have gotten lots of love and support from family and friends near and far, and we really do appreciate it. Little Veronica is 9 years old, will be 10 in January. She’s a sassy little thing but she was also a loving, caring, and smart girl. She is so independent and always wants to do everything on her own. She loves to ask random questions and make random, quirky jokes. Her smile and laugh will always lighten up my day. She loves to vlog her daily routines and gets super excited when she has a lot views on any of her videos. That’s my baby ❤️

I am setting up a gofundme to help with costs for medical bills and future funeral and memorial arrangements for when the time comes to let our angel fly. I know times are hard right now, but anything helps. We all thank you in advance.
