Vana’s Funeral

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Vana Sisopha. Vana went missing on February 3, 2023 while picking for mushrooms with her husband and daughter in Gasquet, CA. Since the news, over 200 search and rescue volunteers and many of Vana's precious friends and family have searched for her. Finally she was found two weeks later, on February 18, 2023. We want to thank Del Norte County Search & Rescue Team, the Forest Services "hotshots", Gasquet County Deputies and citizens, Oregon State and California State Search & Rescue volunteers and finally Bulmaro and the many fellow mushroom picking brothers and sisters of the Latino community who helped us search and found Vana. We are truly grateful for all of the thoughts, prayers and support that we have received from the community and confess that we could not have made it through this tough journey without it.

Finally, Vana can rest in peace. Many people know her as a tough, warm and loving lady who was always loved by many people. She was 71 years old, and has been picking mushrooms for over 20 years. She enjoys cooking, loves the outdoors and loves helping others. She is leaving behind four surviving children and countless grandchildren who will miss her greatly.

The family is in need of assistance in covering the expenses of the funeral and other end-of-life costs. If you are able to contribute, your generosity would be greatly appreciated and would help ease the burden during this difficult time. We are grateful for any support you are able to provide.
