Dear Golden Eagles Nation, Rebels Nations, and Community of Glen Ellyn:

On Friday, July 12th, Susan Vandermolen was taken to the Emergency Room for debilitating headaches and nausea.  An MRI showed that she had a large brain tumor.  On Monday, July 15th, Susan underwent brain surgery to remove as much as the tumor as possible.  A large portion of the tumor was removed.  A small portion remained due to being too close to the brain stem.  A biopsy was completed, and it was determined that Susan was diagnosed with Primary CNS Lymphoma.

Susan began an intense chemo schedule at Loyola Hospital with inpatient stays every other week and at-home treatment on the off weeks.  Unfortunately, the tumor that was remaining grew larger, therefore they decided to get a second opinion and landed at Northwestern.  Susan began her treatments at CDH Hospital in Winfield - both Susan and Paul were much more comfortable with the doctors, treatment plan, and location.  Part of the plan included an upcoming Stem Cell Transplant.  Her first treatment went well, and Susan was able to enjoy time with her family on Thanksgiving.

On Saturday, November 30th, Susan was rushed to the Emergency Room via an ambulance as she was running a very high fever.  Tests revealed that she had contracted an infection that entered her blood stream and was in sepsis. Susan remains in the hospital fighting off this infection.  She is receiving dialysis as her kidneys are failing, has been intubated due to issues with building fluid, and her blood pressure was very low.  Paul's recent updates appear to be positive in that Susan is making small steps forward.

As teammates, friends, and Glen Ellyn community members, we ask that you continue to pray and provide positive thoughts for Susan, Paul, Dylan, and Rylie.

We have also established a GoFundMe page to help relieve some of the financial stress for their family and help with the Holidays.  Paul is unaware of this page and the donations and we would like to keep it that way at this time.

Please keep praying for you Susan, Paul, Dylan, and Rylie! PLEASE DONATE whatever you can via the GoFundMe "Team Vandermolen".
