It is with extreme sadness and a heavy heart that I share the unexpected passing of Vanessa Denise Baeza. She left us to be with her maker on December 27, 2022.
Christmas Day turned out to be anything but ordinary for the Lazo family...Vanessa was taken by ambulance to a local Pearland hospital around 6 am only to be life-flighted to a specialty hospital what seemed like moments later. She was immediately intubated and fell into a comatose state. Vanessa, along with her physicians, and parents fought with all they had but our Lord had other plans. Origin: brain aneurysm
She passed peacefully with her parents by her side as she took her final breath. Her room was filled with friends, family, and strangers from all over. Vanessa turned 18 last month and was preparing to enter the college era. She had big dreams and could brighten any room she entered. She was a sheer example of beauty inside and out. She had college credits and was set to graduate ahead of her class. Vanessa was in the National Honor Roll Society, cheer team, and gymnastics, all while maintaining an internship at Marathon Oil. She was a stellar student and daughter. Vanessa loved God and was highly involved in church activities at Lakewood. This bright star didn't know what a stranger was, she loved everyone and her personality was infectious. She was taken way too soon and we will never fully understand why.

I am creating this in her honor and asking for several things:

  • Prayers for her family and friends. This devastating loss is something a parent does not prepare for or imagine.
  • Requesting donations to help with funeral expenses and specialty medical bills. We want to give Vanessa the memorial she deserves, honor her memory and say our final goodbyes. Any amount will truly help her family during this difficult time.
  • Lastly, to honor her name and who she was...I ask that you spread love and acceptance to all. Smiling at a stranger, helping someone you didn't expect, dreaming bigger than ever before. I ask that you live every day like it's your last. Soften your hearts and show compassion to all. Hold on to your loved ones a little tighter. You never know how your light can impact someone else.

The family is using Forest Park South Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas. Service dates and funeral details are to be announced.
A special viewing at Lakewood Church is also in the works. All friends, family, and classmates are invited to say their goodbyes. Date and time to follow.
Vanessa was a senior at Energy Institute High.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read her story, share, and donate.
As I close, I pray that our Heavenly Father blesses and moves anyone reading this sweet girl's story. I claim that every donation sent to the Lazo family will be doubled and tripled in His mighty name. I pray for peace, courage, strength and closure. Amen
