On October 22nd, 2005 Tara Grinstead disappeared without a trace from Ocilla, Georgia.  A decade later, investigators are still completely puzzled by her disappearance, and its now the largest unsolved case file in Georgia history.

In January of 2016, I started investigating this case myself, and I have been ruthlessly digging for the answer ever since. My name is Payne Lindsey and I'm a 28-year-old independent filmmaker from Atlanta. I have no special training or experience at all in solving cold cases - just a real passion (obsession?) for true crime.

In a quest to find "my first big break" as a filmmaker, I started looking for an unsolved mystery to make a documentary about. That's when I stumbled upon the story of Tara Grinstead.

To my surprise, once I started digging around in this case, things started clicking. Within 24 hours I was contacted by the private investigator hired by Tara's family who offered his full support in my endeavor.

My goal was simple: To solve this case.

And while attempting to do so, I would document the entire journey to play back for everyone to see.

I created the Up and Vanished Podcast to document my initial investigation while I prepared to produce a visual TV series on this case. The goal from the beginning was to bring Tara Grinstead back into the spotlight, and hopefully create an audience with that would support my endeavors as an independent filmmaker with this cold case.

I am now reaching out to the fans of the podcast, friends and family, and to all those with interest in solving Tara Grinstead's disappearance to help raise money to fund the "Up and Vanished" television series.

The final product is projected to be a 6 to 8-part visual series with episodes ranging in 40-60 minutes in length. The series will begin by re-telling the narrative of Tara's life and her disappearance with cinematic renactments. Alongside the narrative portion of the show, a team of new investigators and myself, will dive deep into the case in real time. We're exploring new leads and information, while uncovering enormous discreptiencies and misinformation that have plauged this case for over a decade.

This show will be a new breed of true crime television. Our methods of investigation are guerilla and unconventional. I don't work for a TV network or news channel - I am a filmmaker turned novice investigator, who's not afraid to shake things up. With your help, we can conitinue to tear through this case, and properly film and document this process for you to see first hand. Your support is pivotal in taking the next step in production, and most importantly, discovering what happened to Tara Grinstead.
