Varnell Family Relief Fund

As smoke billowed through the Varnell home on the morning of 2/2/23, Kassy saw a sign she had made saying "Be Still and Know that I am God." As the boys passed her coming down the stairs from their bedroom, she rushed upward into the thickest smoke to find her littlest son. Being still is not what was needed physically but she had the strength and stillness in spirit to make certain all 6 of her kids were safe as a fire ravaged their home.

With a heart of grit, the Varnell family will clean up the ashes and start to rebuild their homestead. As a community, we would like to come alongside their family and help them raise the roof on a barndominium dream to house and shelter the hearts and little ones who call this homestead home.

The Varnell family, has grown up in the Cleveland, TN community. Kyle has worked at Whirlpool for years spending off-hour time working on homestead projects and being involved in his sons' activities including Trail Life. Kassy has been a devoted mother, tending to the gardening, schooling, and maintaining the ever-growing herd of kids and animals. She helps lead the girls' American Heritage Girls troop. The boys love and live airsoft, fishing, country living, and Trail Life. The girls live for gardening, coloring, and enjoying muddy days in the pond. Kyle and Kassy have dreamed of and worked towards building a homestead lifestyle to share with others on the New Norm Farm. You can read about their farm adventures here: http://newnormfarm.com/.

This beautiful family of 8, has poured their blood, sweat, and tears into restoring an old farmhouse into a cozy home for their family and growing livestock to teach their kids the value of sustainable living with hard work and determination. The Varnells patiently and prayerfully spent the last 5 years, restoring a small farmhouse on the property to accommodate their family with a long-term dream to build a barndominum as an expansion to match the size and heart of their family.

The fire that consumed their farmhouse is a detour along their journey leaving them without a brick and mortar place to call home on their homestead. The total loss of their home opens up the door for them to start on their long-term visions earlier and with a more pressing urgency than ever anticipated. God has a funny way of opening doors sometimes for those who trust in Him or, in this case, hopefully raising a barn roof for those who wait patiently.

For those of you with a passion for giving, this page has been setup to support some of the upcoming needs of the family. Monetary, tax-deductible contributions for the family can also be submitted via check (with Kyle & Kassey Varnell in the memo) through Freedom Fellowship Church at 3555 Blue Springs Rd, Cleveland, TN 37323.

For those with construction skills, resources, or hearts willing to serve, we ask that you fill out the form below so that we can link in resources to upcoming needs. It is also a great place to leave a note of encouragement or prayer for the family.

We do not often think to be still in the midst of chaos and emergency situations but we also do not often go to bed with gratitude for that which we have knowing it could be gone in the morning. Our hope is that you will appreciate your family and home, whatever it may look like today, and delight in the One who gives us the desires of our hearts when we trust Him. (Psalm 37 3:3-7).

Thank you for your support of this cherished family and helping to bring home back to into homestead for the Varnells!
