Varners Restaurant Employee Fund
Donation protected
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, we were forced to temporarily lay off all of our employees as our business has been reduced to a small amount of takeout orders that is being used to cover unavoidable overhead costs and outstanding payroll for our staff. We have applied for temporary unemployment on their behalf, but not every employee will qualify for those benefits. What we don't have is the ability to do anything meaningful for them financially.
We can't pay them while they are laid off and many of our people were not sitting on any savings. Some of them are in dire need of cash at this very moment and aid from the Federal Government is more than likely weeks away from hitting their accounts. Restaurants are a people business and our people need help and they need it soon!
Support from the community at-large will make a huge difference to the people who serve the Smyrna community when Varners is open and vibrant! Many people come through Varners on a normal day, but we haven't had a normal day in weeks. The tips that our servers and bartenders live off of are gone. The alcohol and dine-in food sales that we use to pay our cooks and other hourly staff are gone.
We want to help our people so badly, but without business, we need help from the community to be there for the people that help make Varners what it is.
Any funds received will go to the staff members who need it most for groceries and other vital expenses. Hopefully this whole ordeal passes with most of us healthy and we can rebuild with our team still in tact!
