Vaulted Marvels is the project name for the collaboration between artists and writers to produce a book sparked by the fabulous special book collections housed at the University of Dundee Archives.
As MLitt students in the Writing Practice and Study course at UoD, we are perusing some of the over 10,000 volumes of venerable tomes for sparks to our imaginations. We're writing short pieces which will then go on to art students at Duncan of Jordanstone to spark their imaginations in turn. The result will be a collection of a dozen or more art/word pieces bound in a hard case envelope-like format. This book is bound for the British Library, as well as for art lovers shelves.
This book will be a sensitive distillation of the ideas and dreams of over six centuries of writers and artists!
We are working on a short time-line, needing to have the book ready to launch by April. Our main cost will be in the creation and stamping of the envelope, a tidy A5 size. We hope you will be able to help us. The two dozen creators taking part in this project and our support team will all be most grateful. Not only are we excited about the chance to create a beautiful piece of art in word and line, but it will help us to earn a place in the cultural spheres we would like to inhabit.
We will be extremely grateful for donations of any size to help us acheive our goal of £300. Many thanks for your interest.
