The Perrine Family

The Perrine Family is an amazing family as those who know them would agree. They have always unselfishly and without thinking, helped many friends, family, and others that have to crossed their path, during a time of need as well as the good times. They are usually the life of the party and welcome many into their home. They have never and would not ever expect anything in return for their generosity except friendship and good times.

The last few months have been a great challenge for them, as Marni was diagnosed with Stage II Colorectal Cancer on March 19th of 2018. Then five hours later, find a notice on their door saying that they have 30 days to vacate the property they called home for 12 years, because the land owner wanted to increase the rent to an ungodly amount. By April first they were able to move into a new place to call home, however they used all their savings and still had to find a way to get money needed for surgery to remove the cancer (this is the money their insurance will not pay). All the while, trying to minimize any disruption in the lives of Alyssa and Delinda, their two dependent daughters. Due to these unfortunate events they they are now struggling to make ends meet. They spent $4,000 to relocate to a more affordable living arrangement; the medical bills are up to $8,000 dollars and rising. Marni worked up to the day before her surgery (which was May 23rd) and then had to take a leave of absence. Now they are paying $200 dollars more a month for rent and are down to one income, one parent to care for the girls not to mention, Marni is the one who takes care of the financial aspect of their lives among other things. Jeffrey (Jeff) is trying to do all he can to keep up, but he is not working the hours he usually does. He has been at the hospital 70 percent of the time with the love of his life.

As there were unexpected complications after the surgery, therefore, keeping Marni in the hospital much longer than expected. She was discharged and then back in the hospital 24 hours later, looking at the possibility of emergency surgery (which luckily didn’t have to be done); however, she is still in the hospital as of June 1st. He is home 15% of the time helping with homework, supper, school functions, finals and sport functions, in order words, trying to help the girls wrap up the school year. Then the other 15% of his time at work. This has been very difficult for them and are too proud to ask for help. Jeffery said that he never wants anyone to feel obligated to help them for helping out the people he loves.

The surgery was quite involved as the doctors had to remove the cancerous tissues of her colon leaving her with a colostomy so that the remaining bowel can heal.

In 6 to 8 weeks, Marni will return to surgery to have this reversed and her bowels will be reconnected leaving her bowel as one unit again. Then the doctors say it could be a week to 4 weeks before Marni can go back to work.

Jeffrey is struggling to make ends meet with only his income, which has lessened due to him having to help care for his wife, continue to take care of their children, and maintain the bills, which is dependent on both incomes. Insurance has paid for most of the medical bills, except $8,000, as mentioned above, but that number is rising daily. Their funds have depleted drastically due to having to pay for their emergent move and the medical procedures not covered by their insurance to keep Marni with us for many years to come.

With all that said, I know my brother and sister/Aunt and Uncle/son and daughter, they will not ask for help and will not burden anyone with their unfortunate mishaps, but that doesn’t mean others cannot ask for them.  Like we are now, Jeff’s Mom, Sister and Niece, it is with a heavy heart and sympathy for this amazing family, friends, and acquaintances that have helped and still continue to help friends and family any way they can with asking for anything in return. The Perrine’s are a proud family that are loved by so many so it is our turn to all pitch in and help them in their time of need. So please, help by making a donation to the Perrine Family financial fund so Marni can stress less and focus on healing for she is the glue that keeps this family unit as one, and  her loving husband/soulmate can take the time needed to Take care of his family and stay strong.

We love you guys!
