Olivia Hope's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Michael Pelley and I am Olivia's older brother. Olivia was born with a condition called spina bifida, which started a long and continuous struggle with health and medical issues throughout her life. After complications with an important surgery in her early life, Olivia's bladder was damaged. Following that damage her kidney's became greatly affected, eventually leading to their failure. My father, James Pelley, was able to save her life 7 years ago with a kidney transplant. Being that she recieved a new organ Olivia has had to be immunosupressed, in order to ensure that her natural immune system doesn't attack the new organ. As you can imagine, this has led to many complications, and in recent months, she became infected with something called a 'parvovirus'. It is a nasty virus that has attacked her only functioning kidney, pushing it to the brink of failure. Doctors say she will need a new kindey transplant very soon, even as soon as this summer. This sudden and devastating situation has greatly affected Olivia and our family. Her junior classmates graciously voted her to be prom queen of her high school dance. These last three months she has been unable to go to school, and this was a golden opportunity for Olivia to shine within a happy moment. Unfortunately, the night of the prom ended with tragedy, Olivia collapsed while taking pictures with her date due to medical complications and was unable to attend. I took it upon myself to create a new prom dance in her honor, to give her back a piece of the moment that was stolen from her. The eventual redemption dance (Summerfest) became a huge success! The picture you see above is from that day May 17th, 2015. Now that Olivia has gotten not only local but national coverage with her amazing story, I thought it would be a great idea to start this campaign for her immediate medical needs. Olivia's onging battle with her health continues. She has been forced to undergo three dialysis treatments per week, along with one infusion therapy treatment per week. Our community has taken up arms to help and support our family in these dire times. However, we need YOUR help to sustain this beautiful light in the world. My family is not well off, and we are struggling tirelessly to pay current piling medical bills and expenses. Not to mention the very near future prospect of Olivia needing another transplant very soon, which will GREATLY add to the pressure and bills to pay. I only ask, that you help this beautiful spirited young woman, if you are able to. In my 22 years of life, I have never met someone that has deserved so much, yet been offered so little in return. The cards haven't been in her favor from the very beginning. Forced to spend more than 3 years of her life in a hospital bed, surgery after surgery, medication after medication. And yet, this young woman's life force continues to touch everyone around her. Her struggle and sacrafice clearly shows the persaverent attitude and character she possesses. A beautiful heart, for a beautiful queen.
If you can, please help Olivia Hope.
& please help our family.
Love and blessings to you and yours.
