Support for Tristan's family

Hi, my name is Sara, and I am the Auntie and Godmother of an amazing 10 year old little boy named Tristan. Last Friday, Tristan, unfortunately, had to be life-flighted to Rady's Children's Hospital. He had been battling two strains of the flu for about 48 hours when on the second day he suddenly became nonresponsive. The medical team that arrived to help him made the decision to have him air transported to Radys after seeing the condition he was in. Doctors performed multiple tests and thankfully managed to stabilize him after he arrived. It was found that Tristan was in organ failure which included his liver and the one kidney he has. Over the course of several days, Tristan has remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, sedated and intubated on a ventilator while his doctors try to determine the cause of his organs failing. He is currently receiving dialysis due to the fact that his kidney is not functioning. He also had to undergo surgery to relocate his port for his dialysis treatment which the doctors say will most likely be a long term need. They have a plan to begin intermittent dialysis in the next day or two in order to see if his kidney will show signs of function again. Luckily, Tristan's liver levels have improved but they are still unsure as to why his liver was also in organ failure and are awaiting more testing results to hopefully provide more answers. The positive is that Tristan's vitals, lungs and brain are all looking good. The goal is to get his body back to performing all its normal functions again. His doctors explained that Tristan's road to recovery will be a long process met with some specific obstacles he'll need to overcome. He will most likely remain in the PICU through the New Year and be hospitalized for possibly weeks longer.
Tristan's parents, my brother Cory and sister-in-law Stephanie have now found themselves in a very abrupt and unexpected situation. Thankfully, they were able to secure a room at the Ronald McDonald House across the street from the hospital and will be staying there while Tristan is fighting to recover and get back to full health. This is where your generous support comes in! Cory will be unable to maintain his work hours while he and Stephanie are focused on Tristan's recovery. It would be an immense blessing for them not to have to worry about their living expenses during this difficult time. Anything you are able to contribute would truly help relieve that additional burden and would be so greatly appreciated!
The coming weeks bring with them many unknowns but what I absolutely know for certain is that Tristan is the strongest boy I've ever met and if there is any kiddo that can persevere through this, it is him. Thank you in advance for your prayers, your love and your support!
