VCMC Residency Fire Victims
Donation protected
Update 1/1/18:
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We have reached $50,000 and will now end the campaign and withdraw all funds. Checks will be issued to recepients via our benficiary, the United Way, as soon as funds clear.
Update: We have partnered with The United Way of Santa Barbara as well as The United Way of Ventura Counties. They have graciously volunteered to be the beneficiaries and take over in distributing the money to those affected.
Our beautiful VCMC/SPH family is in pain. The Thomas fire has devastated many families in our small community. Some of our clinic and Hospital staff have completely lost their homes in the fire. They left with a few belongings in their bags and the clothes on their backs. Please help us in raising money to give them a chance at rebuilding their lives. Our community is small and close knit and we hope to raise the funds necessary to give them some return to normalcy.
Plan: Divide up funds to the families and resident affected. The initial $20,000 goal will be directed towards our residency family since that's who we originally advertised this donation campaign for. Since we are opening up the donations to our entire VCMC family, all donations beyond our $20,000 goal will be divided as following: 40% of the funds will go to our residency and Clinic Family and 60% of the funds will go to our hospital family. Withdraw funds and write checks to each family to use at their discretion to include buying clothes, Home Goods, and getting into a home and rebuilding their lives.
We plan to make the first withdrawal of $20,000 and distribute those funds the week of 12/18. We will continue the fundraiser through January 1st. We will close the fundraiser on January 2nd regardless of reaching our goal or not. We will then withdraw the remainder of the money and write all families their final checks.
Thank you all for your love and support!
