Blankets for Poor Families in Peru

Donation protected
The Nuñoa Project  is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and support for farmers, students, and veterinarians in the US and Peru as well as the herders and townspeople of the Peruvian altiplano.

Alianza is one of the highest and most remote communities in the Nuñoa District with more than 40 families (200 people). While a good location for alpaca herding and the production of alpaca fiber the harshness of the climate is a continuous challenge to herding families, especially their young. It is too high for agricultural production hence diet is limited and very far from the Nuñoa market in town and the medical center.

In late 2014 we completed the initial distribution of blankets to 35 needy families. The cost of a very warm blanket is extremely low, only $13 each! With this fundraising campaign we hope to be able to distribute over 150 blankets to families in need.

You can read about our first blanket distribution program HERE or visit our website  to read about all that we do to help the alpaca herders of the Peruvian Altiplano.

Each recipient of a blanket signed a thank you note, notice several could only sign with a thumbprint!

Only $13 to help keep someone warm through a cold harsh winter, what a great way to support a family in need with a long lasting gift!
