My son was shot on 6/13/2024
My 22yo was at work at Randy’s Quickstop in Belfair, Washington,. It was his 10 PM break. He was sitting outside on the picnic table and his acquaintance Dakota, who was drunk said hay Seth want to see my new gun ? And Seth likes guns so he said yes . Dakota pulls out the gun to show him and shoots him through his thigh the bullet takes out 7 1/2 inches of his femoral artery exits the back of his thigh and into his calf, Dakota drops the gun and freaks out because not only is he drunk, but he’s driving on a suspended his friends Danny and Owen freak, but Owen has enough common sense to take his hoodie off and attempt to make a tourniquet. Meanwhile, directly next-door Casey’s bar and Grill are two drunk paramedics thank God they heard the shot and weren’t too drunk to do their job . Seth was stuck in an ambulance driven to Silverdale and life flighted to Seattle Harborview Hospital. On the way he bled out in the helicopter, it is a 2 hour drive when we got to the hospital he was blue and his leg was even darker blue thought he was gonna lose his leg, they rushed him to surgery, two more blood transfusions, and they were able to save his leg, they went into his left thigh and harvested parts to fix his artery in his right leg. They also did a fasciotomy on his calf to relieve the swelling from the muscles and also to retrieve bullet fragments . He had another surgery a couple of days later spent two weeks in ICU and then another week in the hospital, they released him only when he could wiggle his toes but no movement in his foot . he has physical therapy twice a week, he has doctors appointments at Harborview 2 hours on a good day twice a week and he will need to learn how to walk again estimated healing is anywhere between 18 months to two years .
He currently needs round-the-clock care and transport to all appointments in Seattle. We live a 2-hour drive away with toll, or 1-hour drive and 1-hour ferry ride On a good day without traffic. I am asking for help with medical supplies, gas, ferry fees, bridge toll, parking fees, and help with his rent. We would have him live with us, but we live in a camper currently and it is not feasible. However, I am at his house every day taking care of him, my husband and I rotate on who changes his bandages gets him up, and to appointments.
