PLEASE HELP CANDY

Hello everyone, my name is Leigh Bland and I am creating this go fund me on behalf of my friend Kay McGough and her beautiful daughter and best friend Candice (Candy) McGough.

In July 2023 year Candy was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer, she underwent two large operations and 25 pelvic radiation therapies. Throughout her treatment, Candy was assured she didn’t require chemotherapy and in late November 2023, she was given the all clear to return to work. However, Candy had developed a cough by then and scans showed the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver, abdomen and chest wall, and was so advanced she might not see her birthday in Feb this year (2024).

Being the fighters they are, Kay and Candy have refused to accept the prognosis Candy has been given and are literally fighting for Candy’s life, to give her every chance for extra time with her mum Kay, dad Chris, brother Ashley, nephew Chase and her extended family longer.

Candy is now under the care of a new oncologist in Brisbane who has given her hope and she has started aggressive chemotherapy. She will also be starting an immunotherapy trial, however the cost involved is $25,000 as it’s not on the PBS and not funded by the drug company. Candy has no choice but to go through the private system!

Candy is a beautiful, kind soul, an adored friend, a loved family member, a valued colleague, and a lover of all animals great and small. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Candy will know her as a bubbly person, always smiling, independent, and doesn’t ask for anything, she doesn't like being the centre of attention, however this is now Candy’s time to shine. All funds raised will help Candy cover the costs of her treatment, and we thank you so much for any donation you can make.
