Washburn University Community Diaper Drive

Donation protected
Every year, SO310: Social Class in the U.S., a Washburn University sociology class, runs a Diaper Drive to help low-income parents provide their children with diapers. Diapers are one of the most basic necessities, but they are extremely hard to afford for families who are struggling financially. Government assistance programs such as WIC and TANF help low-income families buy groceries, but diapers are not included in those programs. Also, during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families struggled to find the right kind of diapers for their children. In donating to this fundraiser, we will help lessen the stress on parents struggling to find diapers for their children.

Our diaper drive works with Community Action of Topeka, which is a haven for families in need of diapers and other basic necessities for children. Donating diapers to families in need will help improve the child's health, the parents' mental health, and the family’s overall financial functioning. This partnered project is an excellent opportunity for students to utilize sociological lessons, assist families in need, and raise awareness of the diaper need issue.

Your contributions will be a cash donation to Community Action of Topeka.

This year's diaper drive will open on March 28th and closes on April 10th.

If you have any questions about our Diaper Drive, feel free to reach out to Dr. Sangyoub Park ([email redacted]). Thanks!
