Fatality Vehicle Crash in Enumclaw, WA

At approximately 1:00AM Tuesday, December the 4th my boyfriend William Gatlin was involved in a serious vehicle accident at SR 164 and 196th Ave in Enumclaw, WA. He was heading eastbound on Hwy164 back to our house when the driver of a small Kia sedan lost control around a corner, drifted into Will’s oncoming lane, and collided with him head on. The driver of the small Kia was driving in excess of 100mph, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and had 3 younger passengers also in the vehicle. Will desperately tried to stop but was not able to which resulted in his truck driving partially through and over the back of the Kia, flipping and rolling multiple times, and slamming into a phone pole that broke and impaled metal pipes through his windshield inches away from his head and body. On impact the driver and three passengers where violently ejected from the Kia as they where reportedly not wearing seatbelts, and were also were allegedly under the influence of alcohol according to Washington State Patrol investigators. Two of the Kia passengers were instantly killed on impact, the other two are in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. As for Will, he ended up getting serious lacerations on his hand from breaking the steering wheel and his right hand going through the windshield. Will has completed surgery and has around 20 stitches in his right hand as well as severe back and chest injuries from the impact and is now suffering with severe pain. This has completely turned our world upside down and Will is absolutely devastated.
Several months ago Will decided to start driving for Uber and Lyft 7 days a week to help out in our hometown in Enumclaw. Since we are a small community there has never been much demand for Uber or Lyft and he decided to sign up so that anyone in around us had the option for a safe ride home. Will had also recently lost his normal full time job due to the company he was working for unexpectedly going out of business. As a emergency option Will decided to increase his driving for Uber and Lyft so he was able to keep some type of income for us. Now that his truck is totaled we now have no source of income, no vehicle, and Will is going to need months of rehabilitative therapy to even be able to walk normally again. Will never thought that some young drivers deciding to speed, and drive under the influence would be the thing that changed our lives in an instant. Financially we were already struggling to make ends meet and now with extensive medical bills, inability to work, and no vehicle, we are completely at a loss. Will is going to have more expenses increasing as he still has to undergo extensive medical treatment for his injuries and our day to day bills are still adding up.
I am asking anyone who sees this, if you could please spare even a couple dollars to help us stay on our feet while we figure out what to do going forward it would mean the world to me. Thank you for taking a second to read this story and I hope you all have a blessed day.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this time. Our families, friends, and local community here in Enumclaw are a true blessing.
