Vehicle Lift for Wheelchair User
Donation protected
Thank you all so much for your support and contributions :) WE DID IT! With my Venmo included, we raised the full $5k (BLESS THANK YOU SO MUCH)!! I just got off the phone with the installation company; they're ordering the parts today, and the money will be in their hands by the end of the week. I'm going to be closing down the gfm, but stay tuned to my Instagram @candybombing to see the lift, in-action once it's installed! :) Did I say how much I appreciate all of you!?!? I appreciate y'all as much as having healthy shoulders, hips, and an unbruised knee for the next 15-20 years :P lol but also seriously!
I'm raising funds for a lift to help me safely get in/out of my vehicle because I am a wheelchair user. Currently, I am doing a pull-up into my truck with a ratchet strap I fastened to the roof. This strap distorts the weather strip so that rain comes through the windows and soaks the front seats of the truck. To get out of the vehicle, I do what I call a "graceful fall," - which I make look much easier than it is. One wrong move, and I can easily sprain a muscle or break a bone. My shoulders are also being put under unnecessary stress. I already overuse my shoulders as a wheelchair user, and I must rely on overusing them for the rest of my life.
Only one lift will work with my Nissan Frontier, and it costs $7,000. I have filled out over 15 grant applications for vehicle modifications and have only been able to raise $2,000. This 2k will expire by November 1st, so I have under two months to raise $5,000, or I will lose the 2k I already raised. Please help me raise funds needed to install the Glide n Go in my Nissan Frontier, as I have already exhausted my resources.
Here are some of the things I will be able to do if I have the Glide n Go transfer seat:
- Run more than one errand at a time
- Go to the gym more to work on offsetting the overuse of specific shoulder muscles
- Get out of my car to pick up healthy food rather than always choosing drive-throughs
- Go to sledge hockey independently as I'm usually too tired to lift into the car afterward
- Use my vehicle when my body is sore or tired
- Not take unnecessary risks with the health of my body as I take longer to heal, so an injury can leave me bedridden for months.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Please share as well. Hope you have a wonderful day <3
