This is how you would describe most 7 year olds and with Krislyn Velvin there is no exception. You can also add conqueror to her list as she has beat Nephroblastoma before her second birthday.
Recently during her routine scans there was a mass found. Which she now has to have a wedge resection. This is a surgery that could further impede the limited kidney function she already has. The pathology results that will come from this surgery will determine whether the Nephroblastoma has returned.
Now what is Nephroblastoma you ask? This is a childhood cancer that that attacks the kidneys. It is also known as Wilms Tumor(s). Krislyn heroically fought and courageously BEAT this cancer when she was just 18 months old. In the process though she lost an entire kidney and a part of her second one.
Her Mother (Nursing Student), Her Step Father (Crane Mechanic), Her Father (Career Paramedic) and Step Mother (Career Paramedic) are here by her side ready to fight. This family has provided endless hours serving their community and now they need your help during this trying time.
Krislyn will have surgery on September 6th at CHKD, which is rapidly approaching, and the week prior to they will be in pre-op.
Along with this page, there is an account at State Employees Credit Union in the name of Velvin/Buckner Fundraiser accepting donations for this family. No donation is too small and the family is grateful for anything that can be provided during this time. Gas and meal cards are also welcomed.
