URGENT Ventura, California Wave Victim Needs Help

Donation protected
My name is Becca, and I reside in Michigan....however, I have spent much time in Ventura, California because of my "adopted father." On one of my trips about 8 years ago, I happened to meet JR and loved listening to him sing and play his guitar and from that day forward, JR and I became good friends. Every time I go back to California, I spend my time with him and my pops....JR and I have kept connected over the years, and I cherish the visits and time we get to share.

When I saw the breaking news of the images of the waves crashing into Seaward Ave., in Ventura, California it was gut wrenching, and all I could think of is where is JR, and is he ok....For years JR has played his guitar at the planters for people every day like clockwork from about 8am to sundown, listening to their problems, teaching about Jesus, and inspiring others selflessly. Instantly, I tried to call him to no avail to see if he was ok. Since I couldn't reach him by phone, I then reached out of Facebook to the I Love Ventura Group praying someone would go and look for him and let me know if he was ok. On that thread I was informed that he was in the ICU Unit, but no other details.....so instantly I called the hospital to find him. JR suffers from 5 broken ribs, a broken foot, shoulder issues and can barely even use his arm, as well is bumped and bruised as the waves pushed him over and washed him under five vehicles before someone could help rescue him.

He was in ICU for about a week until social services told him he must leave. The Doctors and nurses said there was no medical discharge papers, however the social workers insisted he leave even though medically he wasn't ready, nor did he have a safe place to go. JR didn't want to get in trouble or cause any issues so he left the hospital at the directions of the Social Workers.

JR's parents that reside in Nevada and are on very limited income managed to get him 2 weeks in the Motel 6 (the cheapest option and fortunately had a handicap accessible room open). The room has been paid up to this Sunday (January 21, 2024) with what his parents are able to help him. The total funds raised on here total $515 so far, and he and I are both so grateful for your assistance! About $100 is being used to get another phone (as his washed away), and to pay the bill up for 2 months so he can communicate with doctors and social services to get medical care. The remainder of the funds will be able to get him another 2 days in the Motel 6. The would on his leg is still causing difficulties and being on the street would be very dangerous to his health.

We are truly hoping the State's Social Services workers can help find him appropriate and safe housing for his medical needs as soon as possible. as compared to the social workers in the hospital patient dumping him with zero appropriate care lined up.

I am desperately trying to raise funds for him to buy time at the Motel 6 until a viable, safe option is had for him by social services. There is no way he can heal with 5 broken ribs, and his foot, and shoulder as well as many other wounds he has on the streets.

Sadly, patient dumping, as it's called is an everyday occurrence in Southern California. Every day there are reports of American Citizens dying on our streets without proper medical care or housing, while illegals receive free homing, healthcare, and food.......

I wish I could be there and help him, but I had neck surgery about a year and a half ago and haven't had the funds to go back home since to visit him or my pops.

JR has helped me, encouraged me, and saved my life in so many ways with his friendship being a rock to me when the world was shaking threw the years. He has a heart of gold, and worth helping even if it's a few dollars.

One of JR's dreams is to open a tiny homes village one day to help others rise above homelessness as well....I've even helped him research how to get it in motion and this man has some incredible ideas and goals. Please, please consider helping JR heal for the horrific wave that caused him so much damage physically and help lift him so he can again lift others whom are contending with the same issues!

To those who have donated THANK YOU!!!! For those of you considering helping JR, please do.....This man is not just a number as it's said, he is special.....God saved him for a great purpose from a tidal wave and being washed under 5 cars. Please help him heal is a safe place......
