Verdant View Farm barn fire recovery

Early in the morning on Monday, September 19, the big barn at Verdant View Farm burned down once again. The origin of this fire is under investigation. While we do not know how or why this travesty could happen again so soon after a previous fire destroyed the original, 95-year old barn on April 11, 2018, we do know that Patrick and Elisa Fleming could use some help. The first fire was devastating. This fire is soul crushing.

Patrick and Elisa (and the friends, family and community surrounding them) have spent long days, weeks, months and years, and significant money to rebuild the barn, dispose of damaged items, take down other damaged structures, restore the siding of the damaged homestead, rebuild the garage, replace contents that perished in the fire, and restore the grounds. On top of that, over the past 2 years, Patrick and Elisa managed through the disruptions that hit their farming and hospitality businesses. Through it all, they have found creative ways to keep going and keep building. Not only did they power through the challenges, they did it with grace, patience and determination – all while beginning the new adventure of parenting.

Now, they will need to again clean, dispose, plan, take down, restore, replace and rebuild. It is a massive effort on top of their already hectic lives. We extend deep gratitude to those volunteer firefighters, friends and neighbors who have again provided aid. This fundraiser is for those who are asking how you can lighten the load and show some love to a couple who is much more apt to give than receive.

All donations will support the recovery of damage, loss and disruption caused by the fire, including unanticipated expenses not covered by insurance.
