Vermont SkyRelay- With your support, Harwood athletes will complete over 60 miles and over 1200 vertical feet of Vermont's toughest terrain in one day. This continuous relay route includes 4 of the 5 highest peaks in Vermont- Mt Mansfield, Camel's Hump, Glen Ellen and Lincoln Peak.
Funds will go towards transportation and lodging for future events that will expose our amazing local junior athletes to the best competition in New England and beyond.
Why support junior running programs?- Young people who find confidence and success in running grow up to find meaning in other aspects of life and promote a healthy lifestyle with family and peers.
This season we were able to take over forty kids to Belfast, Maine to compete against the best in New England and seven athletes to Andorra to compete in World Junior Mountain Running Championships and brought home some heavy medal. Local junior athletes Erin Magill and Sam Hodges reached the podium in their first attempt, putting VT on the map in the global spotlight. We need your support to keep these great trips going.
Harwood Cross-Country has racked up 24 Men's and women's team state titles and 15 individual state champions over the last 27 years. Girls have won 8 times in the last 8 years and boys 7 times in the last 10 years.
Relay date is Sunday, October 29th following the state meet but may be pushed to the following weekend depending on weather.
Donors will also have the opportunity to run any section of course with the kids and share in their success!
