Vern and Candice Brisco House Fire

On Sunday April 9th 2017, Vern and Candice Snively lost their home and all of their belongings, in a house fire at their residence in Brisco (BC).

On this grey and cloudy Sunday morning the couple decided to warm up the house and lit the stove in their beautiful log home. The chimney caught fire and within minutes the living room and roof were on fire.

Without being in any Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) fire district, no firefighters are allowed to respond to the fire. Local volunteers were called and tried to save some things from their home and sheds, but there was no time. Within 20 minutes the whole home was lit up...

Devistating to see the couple witnessing this tragic event. Nothing anyone could do to fight the flames... All went to ashes in no time.

Vern and Candice are left with nothing: no home, no clothes, nowhere to go.

As a close-knit community here in the Columbia Valley, we must band together and open our hearts to help them through this very unfortunate tragedy in their lives.

The first fundraising goal has been set to $30,000. This money will be used to get by in the first year. Think of clothing, toiletries, temporary housing (rent), health insurance, etc. But this will not build them a new place, if that would be the direction the couple wants to go. 

We move at the pace of Vern & Candice and once we get a better understanding of what the next steps will be, funds and materials will be raised accordingly.

The couple is fine for clothing and other material donations are not necessary at this point in time.
