Vern McNeice and Spinal Decompression Surgery

Hi my name is Monty McNeice, Verns brother. I am raising funds for the surgery required, travel expenses, and rehabilitation that Vern needs!

As you all know Vern has relentlessly helped many people including myself and family. To name a few things he has helped me with: starting a business, getting on the Edmonton Fire Dept., he gave me the opportunity to guide for him as well, and most of all just being a great big brother and role model. He is a proud Man, He would never approve of what I am asking all of you to do, but I do believe that in doing this fundraiser it will be a way for family and friends to show him the huge positive impact he has had on all of us. From coaching soccer, then starting the Cochrane Cowboys Wrestling club, coaching wrestling, being a great employer with his past business as well as the Outfitting business that he currently operates. Over the course of his Career with the Calgary Fire Dept. he has witnessed countless overdoses due to the opioid crisis. Over the last year he has been working with Doctors, the Media, Politicians, and Post Secondary Schools to change the way and improve how kids and teenagers get informed of the dangers associated with opioids. We have all been positively impacted by this great man. Lets help him as he has helped us.

Vern's back is in need of a major operation that if done in Alberta would fuse his 3 vertebrae greatly reducing his mobility and quality of life. At 55 years old he is on the verge of retiring from the fire department and had not planned on this expense, nor this kind of immobility!

A company in Germany has been successfully treating the same injury Vern is suffering from for over 25 years. As of last year this procedure was approved in the USA but unfortunately not in Canada as of yet.

After consulting with specialists, including Caleo in Calgary. The procedure in Germany is considered the best option.

The cost is $65,000 plus travel expenses, as well as rehabilitation costs. Funds will be given to Vern and Lana on Febuary 9th 2024

February 10th 2024 he will fly to Germany with Lana and on February 14th 2024 is the surgery.
