Vernal Oilers 2024 Playoffs

Hi, we are the Vernal Oilers, a Junior "A" hockey team based in Vernal, UT that currently competes in the USPHL's Premier division. Our roster is comprised of players from all over the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia who flock to a small town in the Uintah Basin to chase their dreams of playing professional hockey or collegiate hockey. Our players are proud to represent not only Vernal, but the entire Uintah Basin as we strive to make Vernal THE destination for aspirational young hockey players between the ages of 16-20 years old.

During our debut season in the the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), we managed to set a league record for consecutive wins by a first year franchise, and won the Northwest division title en route to landing a spot in the National Championships, held in Utica, NY. In Utica we posted a 1-2 record and while we didn't reach our ultimate goal of winning a national title, we accomplished our broader goal of advancing our players to higher levels of hockey, eventually sending 13 players to either college or professional hockey.

2023-24 marks our second season in the USPHL, and once again we find ourselves in fist place within the Northwest division with playoffs approaching in just over two weeks. We have a fresh new group of players who are more prepared than ever to defend our Northwest division title and return to Utica for the USPHL National Championship, beginning March 21.

From player dues, to traveling and off season try out camps and training, our players spend a significant amount of money each season chasing their dreams of becoming collegiate or professional hockey players. With players hailing from 10 different countries, we recognize that our players might not all face the same financial circumstances as those coming to Vernal from elsewhere in the United States and we make every attempt to keep our players fees as low as possible in order to facilitate opportunities in the sport for every player who is deserving, and not just those who can afford it.

Our Post-Season will cost upwards of $45,000, and while subsidized by playoff fees paid by the players, there will be a substantial deficit that we rely on being filled by donations, sponsor contributions and revenue generated by ticket sales at our playoff games. We are asking for your support in any way possible.. Any donations you make will go directly towards getting these players through the playoffs and hopefully back to New York to compete in Nationals. If you aren't in a position to donate, buy a ticket and come out to a game during the playoffs. Every dollar helps!
