**PLEASE READ UPDATE - 9/29/22**
Veronica Arocho is a bright and intelligent 17 year old that has been living in a silent torment for years.
As a young child, she suffered many complications involving her immune system. Fast forward to approximately 3 years ago, disturbing and unexplained symptoms began to show, including hallucinations, panic attacks, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Over the course of the next two years, she developed Tourettes Syndrome, panic outbursts, severe irritability, and insomnia. The real physical deterioration began in approximately March of 2020, when she began having non-epileptic seizures. Currently, she suffers from insomnia, loss of appetite, lack of concentration, inability to read and write due to decreased motor skills due to the Lyme Disease, severe ticks and out bursts related to Tourettes Syndrome, and the non-epileptic seizures. The bacteria from the PANS and Autoimmune encephalitis cause her to display multiple personality disorders, ADHD, OCD, hallucinations and anxiety which interfere with all aspects of her daily life.
Despite her struggles, she has managed to continue her Pioneering as a faithful servant of Jehovah and has even learned a foreign language in order to help others. Her immeasurable faith has helped her and her family thus far.
Veronica's family have taken her to a plethora of medical experts and after a long struggle of misdiagnosis, a true diagnosis has finally been made in her very rare case.
Diagnosis: Autoimmune encephalitis; PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome); Lyme Disease (Babesia Divergence).
Treatment Plan for her specific case includes 18-24 months of IV medication (minimum); which can only be administered at a handful of hospitals in the United States. The family plans to start her treatment in late April / May at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
The cost of lodging, travel, and the out of pocket medical expense is going to be extensive and difficult for the family.
