Veronica Burgos

Upon returning to work post-strike, I heard the heartbreaking news that Veronica Burgos, a security guard who has been working at Steiner Studios for 11 years, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. She was a single mother, raising her 17 year old son. Today, Veronica would have turned 47 years old.

Many people in the TV and Film community came to know and love Veronica as if she were part of “the crew”. Her humor and kindness is a devastating loss to all of us. The prospect of working at the stages and not seeing Veronica waving from the golf cart, or coming to toss a ball to the office and truck dogs just feels wrong. Some days she would even have a milk bone in her cargo pocket.

I will always be grateful to Veronica for bringing humor and warmth to Steiner, a place we sometimes spend more of our time than we do at home or with family. In an attempt to repay even the smallest amount of kindness that she has shown us over the years, I started this fund to honor Veronica and her son.

Any money that is raised will go directly to her child, who is preparing to go off to college soon. I know our film community is struggling financially right now, so please know that there is no pressure whatsoever to donate, and that even the smallest amounts add up.

Steiner will not be the same without Veronica, but her memory will always be in our hearts. Sending love to her family today on her birthday.

Keely
