Hi, my name is Veronika. I am 18 years old and a national fencer for Australia and am currently ranked World Number 1 in the Junior category for Women's Sabre. I started fencing 11 years ago at the age of 7. Since the beginning, fencing has been my passion and my life. Recently, I have had the opportunity to train and compete at a higher and more professional level and have made numerous significant international results, such as 2nd place at the Junior Asian Championships two years in a row (2022 and 2023), 5th place at the 2023 Junior World Championships, and 2 silver medals from Junior World Cups. My goal is to raise money to continue competing internationally, hoping to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Currently, the competition cost of travel fees and other related expenses altogether amount to approximately $50,000 (AUD), in turn, becoming difficult for me and my family to manage and causing us to struggle financially, leading to fewer competitions. However, it is crucial to participate in all Senior events this season and as many Junior events as possible, as this is the qualifying year for the Olympics and every result and opportunity for experience counts and adds up.
Furthermore, all funds earned and received will only be used towards competition travel expenses, competition fees and competition accommodation for FIE competitions of Senior and Junior events.
I understand that not everyone has the opportunity, and times are harder, now more than ever, however, for those who can and are happy to a little help goes a long way. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
