VESA: Fiji School building trip
Donation protected
Hi there,
My Name is Josh De Beaux. I have been accepted by VESA (Volunteer Eco-Students Abroad) Scheme to fly to Fiji to build schools and help local teachers educate the youth.
I need funding and sponsorship to help cover the costs of my travel, accommodation, insurance, materials and to put money back into the local economy.
I will be jetting of in July for 15 days with a group of other students around the world.
I think this most important question for me is why am I doing this trip?
Why am I flying half way round the world for strangers with strangers?
I did fundraising when I was younger for the St Helena Hospice. Now University and part-time work to fund Uni has taken all my time. This is a great opportunity to do charitable work again.
Also, I don't view myself as a philanthropist. I personally have not done anything directly charitable. I gave my time to raise money and that is it.
I have always watched on TV about people going to countries and helping first hand. Watching British Red Flag helping those in a crisis.
VESA is my best opportunity to go and meet wonderful people less fortunate than I. See them play and smile. I can actually go and support them first hand and make a real direct difference, rather than given money for someone else to do it.
I remember watching a interview I believe with Bill gates. He stated he is not the most charitable man in the world, because he has donated billions. The most charitable are those that give up their time and money to travel and be with those in need. ( I would post a link, but I can't find the interview).
So please donate as much or as little as you wish. I will greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you for reading my story
