Vesuvius' Medical Costs
Tax deductible
Vesuvius followed a caretaker home one day. The caretaker could tell that he was not feeling well, and contacted Project MEOW to trap him and take him to a vet. When the PM volunteer arrived, Vesuvius knew he needed help and literally walked into the carrier.
Not realizing the extent of his medical issues, he was taken to a clinic for standard vetting and to be neutered. Two days later, he was not doing well after the routine procedure. Project MEOW rushed him to the vet and after extensive exams, tests and x rays, it was determined he had a diaphragmatic hernia. His organs were in places they were not supposed to be. His intestines were pressing against his lungs, making it difficult to breathe. His throat and stomach were compressed, making it difficult to eat.
He was rushed to a specialty hospital where they determined that he must be operated on within 24 hours or he might die. Although the cost of the surgery and after-care were extensive, Project MEOW did not hesitate to proceed.
Despite all the stress he was under, Vesuvius stayed sweet during his hospital stay and his long stay in foster care. He is now fully recovered and was recently adopted.
Please help cover the $7500 spent to save this lovable cat!
