Vet Amputee Needs Help
Donation protected
My son-in-law (Dan Lewis) needs help to improve his health and mobility. Dan is 51 years old and lives with his wife in Seagoville, TX. He is a veteran of the Gulf War where he served as a Medic on the front lines; probably saving many lives.
Dan has been blessed with support from both family and friends. He is now faced with lifestyle changes and substantial expenditures to make necessary home renovations. Dan is currently on State disability. The VA does not consider his disability to be service connected. So, they will not help pay for all these necessary conversions.
Dan is a Type 1 diabetic and has struggled with this for many years. He is on the list for a kidney transplant and currently uses peritoneal dialysis every night to survive. Severe vascular issues are part of End Stage Renal Disease. As a result, Dan underwent a triple bi-pass 3 years ago. And recently, both of his legs were amputated above the knee. He is wheelchair bound until he can get prosthetics from the VA. Meanwhile, he needs modifications to his bathroom so he can shower, widening the doorways to accommodate his wheelchair, kitchen changes so he can cook, a power wheelchair for his mobility, and a lift on his car for the wheelchair. The shower changes alone are estimated at $7,000.
Between Dan’s disability and his wife’s income they are fortunate to have what they need for mortgage and living expenses. These new expenditures will be impossible without outside support.
Of course, if you aren’t able to donate, please spread the word. Thank you for helping to change someone’s life for the better.
