Veteran tragically killed en route to Vet dinner!

A local Veteran was tragically killed en route to a celebratory Veterans Day dinner.  Just after 5pm on Monday, November 11th,  Veteran Alan Ropp and his wife, Lisa Ivie Ropp had just dropped off their children with mom Terri Ivie and were headed to Sandpoint to a Veterans dinner. they were stopped on Highway 2, just outside of Dover, preparing to turn left, when a vehicle, traveling at 60 mph, hit them from behind. The impact pushed them into oncoming traffic where they were hit by a vehicle traveling 60 mph in the opposite direction. Alan was pronounced dead at the scene and Lisa was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. She was later transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where they could address her very serious injuries. She had surgery on Tuesday for a broken pelvis, collarbone, wrist, eye socket and more. After surgery they discovered she had suffered a stroke. They found she had several blood clots. They had to perform a second surgery to deal with the blood clots. She is currently in ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital with partial paralysis to her left side from the stroke and a multitude of serious injuries from the accident. They did not have emergency funds in place for this type of tragedy. At this time it is unknown if the 20-year-old that hit them has insurance. Lisa's hospital bills will be in the tens of thousands of dollars. Alan's funeral expenses will be between $5000 and $10,000. Terri and Larry will be spending most of their time in Spokane and going back and forth between Priest River and Spokane for several weeks. they will need money to help cover fuel and food costs. They will also be carrying for Alan and Lisa's children who are devastated by the loss of their father. Terri is so generous with her time and is always there for anyone who needs anything.
