Veteran Grappling is a not for profit mental health program run by former member of the Australian special forces, combat veteran from both the Iraq & Afghanistan wars, former Australian Judo national champion and current member of the Australian Olympic Judo coaching team Scott Steer.
Scott's dream is to improve the psychological and physical health of veteran's through an Australian first program based around martial arts training and movement instead of medication. Sadly, suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian Defence Force (ADF) males aged 30-49 with ~ 400 suicides recorded between 2001 to the present date. 81% of ex military members know someone that has taken their own life. This may be in part due to the ~90% of Australian veterans experiencing anxiety and depression after their military career has ended.
This program provides FREE martial arts, trauma informed yoga, medical supervision and allied health services such as physiotherapy, exercise physiology and psychology to any current or former ADF members.
Please help reduce suicide rates, improve mental & physical health plus build a community for veteran's that want to take control of their health without the need for medication while having fun and staying fit.
With your help Veteran Grappling can provide uniforms, clothing, insurance, registration and tuition fees for our veteran's.
Veteran Grappling opens it's doors on Saturday August 3rd with an open day BBQ from 10am-2pm on the Gold Coast of Australia. Any support is urgently needed and appreciated beyond words.
Thank you for your support.
