Veteran helping Homeless Veterans

Donation protected
Hello,

SHORT STORY (LONG STORY BELOW):
I am a Veteran, U.S. Marine Corps (1/9) and since year 2016 I have volunteered my time teaching homeless Veterans. I need donations so as to continue my volunteer work. As the video shows, I ask Cities and Counties for donations so that I can continue to help homeless Vets (in their areas) but they never want to donate and I don't know why. This is why I come to you. Thank you.

Lastly, I help homeless Veterans (post-homeless Veterans that are re-joining society) 3 ways: (1) teach "live" (over the Internet), (2) I teach "in-person" (one-on-one), and (3) I have an online training website the homeless Veterans can watch the videos for free JobTrainingInThecloudCom Thank you.

LONG STORY:
My name is Tim Owens, and I am a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. After serving our country, I found myself deeply concerned about the plight of homeless veterans. Witnessing their struggles firsthand, I felt compelled to take action.

To that end, (1) I volunteer my time teaching computer skills to homeless Veterans. (2) I teach "live" over the Internet, (3) I teach "onsite" at the Veterans location, and (4) I maintain a job training website where Veterans can watch videos and learn skills at their own pace.

All these are free for post-homeless Veterans. These skills are invaluable in today's world, opening doors to employment opportunities, access to vital resources, and reconnecting with loved ones.

I am seeking donations so that I may continue to help homeless Vets. As you will see in the video, I ask cities and Counties for donations so I can continue to help their local / homeless Vets. Those organizations never donate, and I don't know why. So now I am coming to you.

However, my resources are limited. I desperately need your support to:

(1) Provide free access to online training videos. (costs are website hosting, bandwidth, monthly charges, etc). The post-homeless Veterans get to watch these videos from their RV, car, or hotel room.

This online training videos are helpful to our physically challenged Vets that cannot physically go to a training center.

(2) Provide "live" Instructor-led training (book materials, high-speed Internet connection, bandwidth, Zoom / Go To Meeting subscription for 500 users.) Watching online videos is helpful but sometimes “live” training is more effective.

(This "live" training is helpful to physically challenged Vets. Watching videos is great but the ability to ask questions in 'real' time is very helpful.)

(3) I offer support services: I teach "one-to-one" classes on how to create a resume, how to job search using the Internet, and how to use browsers, and how to navigate online platforms. This training is "live" training using the Internet.

(4) Many times, homeless Veterans do not have any computer or Internet skills. For me to be there, onsite and in person is not only helpful but required. When I am there in person, I can show and explain (1) how to use a mouse, (2) how to use a keyboard, (3) what is a browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave) and how to use it. These basic classes require me to be in the training room and present with the Veterans.

I often drive to the location of the Veterans. Transportation, fuel, air-fare and hotel costs: I will drive to the Veterans area and teach a group of Veterans at their location.

Example: Many times, I have driven from my apartment in Los Angeles to Southern Nevada (5 hours) I would spend the night in a hotel, wake up and drive to the Salvation Army shelter on Owens Avenue in Nevada at 8am for the training.

At times, it might be less expensive to fly to the location, teach the class and fly home (thereby avoiding hotel costs, fuel costs, etc). Example: rather than driving 5 hours and staying in a hotel, I can fly (sometimes) for $99 dollars round-trip (from Los Angeles to Southern Nevada). This is if I book in advance.

My goal is to offer training at all the VA centers across the country and all the Salvation Army Veteran homeless shelters across the country as well.

One thing that is interesting to me is that this computer training is not being offered at any of these non-profit locations. I know this for sure as I have visited these non-profits, and I see it for myself. These locations might have a computer room but there are no classes offered.

This is why the non-profits enjoy my volunteer work. I am helping the Vets learn valuable skills. Such as? How to use email, how to use the Internet, how to use a mouse and keyboard, how to look for a job using the Internet. Without a email address and without knowledge on how to use email, and Internet knowledge, these Vets are not able to go to the VA (Veterans Administration) website and apply for benefits, check on their benefits, etc. The Veterans love this help that I provide.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference. By supporting the mission, you are not only helping homeless Veterans gain valuable skills but also empowering them to rebuild their lives and regain their independence.

Please join me in making a positive impact on the lives of those who have served our nation. Your generosity will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Tim Owens
