Veteran Joseph Lara Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Joseph Lara was a historic World War II veteran & beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, & friend. Joe had great health throughout his life but developed Parkinson’s disease and Dementia as he aged.
Joe lived in a long-term care facility and looked forward to regular visits from his family and trips out of the nursing home for holidays, family gatherings, and even something as simple as McDonald’s lunch because they kept him happy and connected to his loved ones. When COVID hit all in-person visitation and outings stopped at his nursing home, resulting in a fast deterioration of his health, and within months he was at the end of his life. Joseph passed away on August 12, 2020 at the age of 96.
Everyone that knew Joe knew the story of how he and his wife met in junior high where they fell in love, and then were married for 50+ years before she passed in 2000. We are fundraising to go towards the cost of his funeral services and burial with his wife, Mary. We know it is a difficult time for many, and appreciate any amount you are able to contribute.
May you rest in peace, Grandpa.
