Veterans serving veterans through gaming

We are Mana Oasis! Our mission is to support veterans and first responders by creating a sense of community and increasing awareness around trauma, mental health and suicide using trauma-informed tabletop and role-play gaming. Our community is facilitated by trauma-informed gamemasters and supported by trauma-informed peer supports. We also have multiple mental health professionals to serve our veterans and first responders.

On average, 22 veterans a day complete suicide, and this number is much more significant when you include first responders, which brings the number much closer to 35 a day. The numbers for attempts are much higher. These numbers are way too high and need addressing. Mana Oasis wants to help with this critical mission.

Our vision is to use tabletop and role-play gaming to create trauma-informed communities of veterans and first responders. These communities would be a space to build relationships that allow them to share their traumas and mental health, reducing mental health stigma and encouraging them to reach out for suicide support. In order to have a greater reach and impact on mental health and decrease suicide rates, this organizational model would be transportable, virtual and duplicatable.
