Queerantine: A Queer Online Dance Party
Donation protected
The hosts of BLUSH and LSD are thrilled to bringing you Queerantine, a queer meet-up and dance party... to the comfort of your own home!
With the help of Zoom software, we will be bringing together some global queer DJs for a big ol dance party and chat room to bring you closer to your queer peers! A suggested donation of $10, or $5 for QTBIPOC, will get you an email with the link to our Zoom event. Will consider donating more if you have the means, or buying multiple tickets to sponspor participation from people who might not be able to afford it.
All money raised will go first into paying the participant DJs and dancers -- all of whom have lost their main sources of income due to COVID-19 -- and then towards sponsporing other queer people in situations of financial precarity due to the crisis. Artists, sex workers, and other freelance workers across the world have lost their main sources of income with the closure of bars, clubs, offices, and other public spaces, as a result of COVID-19, and many of these people are not covered by conventional government employment insurance. This event will aim to elliviate some of that financial stress at the same time as bridging the distance between the queer community.
30% of the funds raised will donated to Taking What We Need which raises money for low-income trans women, and the other 70% will given out in $100 lumps to any queer person who approaches us, without asking questions.
