APPEAL FOR FUNDING: MONTESSORI INTERNATIONAL DAYCARE AND PRESCHOOL
Our goal is to raise money to save Montessori International, an English-speaking childcare institution in Bonn, Germany which fosters multi-cultural understanding among children and parents from all corners of the world.
The current location of the school is on an historical site. In the 1950's the U.S. government built a compound for their military and embassy personnel. President John F. Kennedy as well as other dignitaries have stopped here to visit and thank our diplomatic families and servicemen and women for their hard work.
The capital moved to Berlin and along with it, all of the embassies and military personnel. In 1999 Mrs. Beilharz took up the challenge to provide English language oriented childcare for Americans and newly arrived families of the international business community, She recognized the need for responsible, nurturing and flexible childcare with the emphasis on the English language. It was, and still is very difficult to find quality childcare for infants, toddlers, and early learners, as well as after school care for teens, all in the same area. Montessori International provides this unique childcare.
The city of Bonn has recently cancelled the school's lease, effective June 30, 2015, and plans to raze the building in order to use the property for their own purpose. Montessori International is now being forced out of its present site with no alternate location offered.
Finding a new suitable home for the kids is extremely difficult and impossible without outside help/donations. No government funds are available. The political and commercial emphasis is on procuring real estate for more lucrative purposes, for higher profit!
Concetta Beilharz and her team have provided a unique, loving, and caring environment based on the Montessori Method. A safe haven, parents can bring their children and leave them all day (7:30 am - 6:00 pm) if need be, knowing that their children are safe and well cared for. The school affords them the opportunity to work and manage their family. We not only help families with children adjust to living in a foreign country but also establish a stable environment for those children to adapt in an otherwise stressful situation.
Please help Montessori International continue providing this unique and wonderful childcare for parents in need. You can do this by donating whatever you can. Thirty years of caring for children, of being a pillar in the community, is in danger of being wiped out! We need help from the people we serve, people like you who care about the future of our children and their world.
